The support relationship is the requirement
The mistake in most technologist files is to argue about credentials when the officer is looking for the professional being supported. Ask the US repair facility to identify the engineer or scientist by role, explain what decisions that person makes, and show how the inspection results, calibration records and discontinuity reports feed those decisions. Then connect the applicant's training: NDT certification levels, the physics and materials courses behind them, and the years of applying them to real components.
A technologist who works to a written procedure with no professional above her in the discipline has a harder case, not because she is less skilled, but because the entry describes a relationship, not a skill level.
